We act socially and environmentally responsibly at every step of the process.

Our plant leather collection is made using the finest fabric from cork, harvested respecting the natural cycle of the cork oak trees. All of the cork used in our products is harvested from FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified cork forests in Portugal. By choosing to work with cork, we support the traditional source of livelihood and biodiversity of the cork oak woodlands and the many ecological benefits of farming and using cork.

We work closely together with our partners to ensure that our values and high quality standards are met at every step of the production process. Each year we examine our own activities. We ask questions and expect answers. We value transparency. 

Thinkers and Makers is designed by Katriina Nuutinen at the Thinkers & Makers studio in Joensuu, Finland. After the prototypes are made in a local Joensuu-based model studio, our trusted partners in Portugal sew the collection. Katriina draws from her design expertise to create durable and versatile products, in which elegance meets function. We are always looking to develop our products and to find more sustainable ways of doing things.

We bring back to our community

For every Aarni backpack sold, we donate five euros to support the mental health of local youngsters in North Karelia through The Finnish Association for Mental Health. In today’s rapidly changing world full of pressure and uncertainty, it is important for us to support the bright minds of tomorrow.
